Alcon Builders and Engineers, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kolkata-based GPT Infraprojects, has secured two Western Railway signalling contracts totalling ₹283.61 crore, including GST. The company disclosed the awards on 16 and 17 October 2026.
Two contracts, separate delivery schedules
The Bhavnagar Division contract is valued at ₹149.50 crore including GST. It covers replacement of existing signalling installations at 18 stations with electronic interlocking, digital axle counters and associated signalling and telecom equipment. The execution period is 730 days from the appointed date.
The Ratlam Division contract is worth ₹134.11 crore including GST. Its scope includes automatic block signalling, electronic interlocking and associated works on specified double-line sections. The delivery period is 548 days from the appointed date.
From lowest bidder to contract award
These are award confirmations following earlier lowest-bidder disclosures: 3 October for Bhavnagar and 1 October for Ratlam. They represent a further stage in the same projects, rather than two additional contracts on top of the previously announced bids.
Why it matters for Eastern India
The connection to Eastern India is the parent company’s Kolkata headquarters and its railway engineering business. The work itself is outside the region. The contracts add to Alcon’s delivery workload; the awards do not establish completed construction or recognised revenue.
The next milestones are appointed dates, mobilisation and progress against the separate execution schedules.
